A dress so nice I bought it twice

Dalia MacPhee strikes again!

You might know about my weakness for Dalia MacPhee dresses as I’ve featured them on the blog several times, and my collection of them is continuously growing. I love the feminine and colorful dresses Dalia makes, and even though not all of them are my style — I don’t like wearing short dresses, I am a fan, nonetheless.

Not surprisingly, when this maxi shirt dress hit the stores, I immediately fell in love with it and bought it swiftly. I was sure it was going to sell out quickly and I was right. By the time I received it and got to wear and photograph it, it was almost fully sold out.

I have kept my eye out for it, but stubbornly, it didn’t come back in stock

Until now, that is, when it finally happenedthe dress came back! Along with a new colorway (also available here). And you guessed it, I loved it and bought it immediately (it’s en route to me as we speak). The price is unbeatable, and already familiar with and loving the style and fit, I had to get it. Plus, the blues are right up my alley, and the color combination is perfect for autumn and beyond. I see myself wearing these dresses a lot because they’re suitable for all occasions.

Now, the dress details you’re always looking for:

It fits true to size, however, note that the bodice of the dress is fitted; if you have a larger chest, I recommend going up a size or looking for a way to secure that gap that occurs with fitted shirts.

The fabric is soft and fairly light, and the dress isn’t lined, yet, is not see-through. It has perfect movement with its flowy skirt, and the buttons are fully functional so you can cover up or show as much skin as you like. The belt is removable; in these photos, I’m wearing it as intended, and in this video, I replaced it with a straw belt for a more casual look. It looks great both ways. Oh, and this shirt dress is a true maxi.

***If you love the print on the dress in the pictures, it’s available here and here in the same print on a navy background, instead of cream — just the moody colors you need for fall.

Outfit details: Sunglasses, Straw bag, straw belt, espadrilles (the red ones are sadly sold out, and the beige/gold ones are just about as well, but here’s a similar option); shop the bag from these pictures here in a mustard color (I don’t understand the bad reviews as I’ve had this bag for a while and worn it a lot. FYI if you’re looking for a work bag, this is not it).

The print made me fall in love with it immediately. Then, came its feminine and somewhat majestic style 😉

So, what do you think of these dresses?

xo,

Em
