A linen-blend shirt dress perfect for spring

If you’ve got your eye on spring dresses, I’ve got you covered with a variety of linen and linen blend dresses, including the one I’m wearing in these photos.

I’ve had my eye on this linen-blend blue and white shirt dress since last year, but it wasn’t meant to be at that moment. The first time I saw it, nothing else caught my attention and I did not want to pay for shipping. I put it in the back of my mind and it sold out, of course. Then I saw it again online, and it also happened to be available at my local store. At that point, I knew it was meant to be.

It’s a fairly casual, everyday shirt dress, but it’s 1) blue and white, 2) a linen blend, and 3) it has pockets. Yep, it fit my buying criteria so it came home with me.

I’ve reached for it twice already since I got it over a week ago, so I’d say this was a good buy (this one is the exact style but has a different [embroidered] print). It’s lightweight, comfortable, and beautiful. And the pockets just make it all better!

This shirtdress can definitely be worn for work in a less formal office. It’s unlined, but not sheer, though I’d always advise wearing skin-colored undergarments with linen clothing, at the very least (this post has detailed suggestions). As far as fit, it runs true to size.

On how to wear a shirt dress, you can always wear it as-is, style it with a sweater over your shoulders, or cinched with a belt for an effortlessly chic spring outfit. You can apply the same principles with most dresses to create easy outfits for spring.

Tip: Natural fabrics like linen and cotton usually wrinkle and lose shape, especially after washing, but this wrinkle-release spray does wonders on them — seriously, no steaming or pressing is needed! Just spray your clothes with it, help reshape them with your hands, and allow them to hang dry.

Outfit details: shirt dress, sweater, sunglasses (my absolute favorite these days — I have them in three colors), the bag was a local find (similar, and another similar one; I also love this one), espadrilles are old — similar here.
