Clean beauty tinted moisturizers for minimal makeup
I think we can all agree that many of us have given up on makeup these days, or wear very little of it. I know I have been make-up free for most of 2020 - working from home, and not going to many places allows me to let my skin “breathe” from the years of wearing makeup on a daily basis.
I can’t say that my skin has necessarily gotten better from not wearing it - I have oily skin - but it has been easier for me, as I don’t enjoy the process of putting makeup on that much.

Yet, on some days I want to add some color to my skin, and still keep it looking healthy and natural; if there’s one thing I really can’t stand it’s the heavy-cakey makeup. That’s when I turn to my clean beauty tinted moisturizers from Andalou Naturals, and specifically to my Vitamin C BB Beauty Balm Sheer Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30, or the 1000 Roses CC Color + Correct with SPF 30, whichever I reach out for first. These products are NON-GMO certified, gluten-free, 98% nature-derived, and vegan.
As you can see from the photos, they are used a lot. The package has been changed a bit, as well as the tint (or name of) since I bought these last.
They both have a similar texture, one of a thick, and somewhat oily cream, however, once applied, it blends easily; the Vitamin C has a citrusy smell, and the roses one smells of roses, of course. The smells aren’t too overpowering, but something to be aware of. What I really love about these is that they offer broad-spectrum sun protection. Because of the consistency, I think they would be ideal for dry skin if you’re looking for a tinted moisturizer.
As far as coverage, these are pretty sheer, their main “role” being to add a hint of natural color, and a healthy glow. However, if I ever want a bit more coverage, I add another layer, and use concealer, if needed.
Since I have oily skin, I tend to apply a shine control primer first; I use the Neutrogena Shine Control Makeup Primer (not a clean beauty product), which has worked great at keeping my face shine-free and minimized my pores. Although heads up, this primer has a very grainy consistency and feels that way as well when it is being applied. I didn’t find this to impact my makeup though, and I like that it doesn’t make my skin feel or look dry.
I haven’t made a full switch to clean beauty, and I’ll probably never give up on using some non-clean beauty products, but I sure like to incorporate natural, affordable, and results-proven ones into my routine.
Do you have any recommendations?
Stay safe and be well.
Until next time.
