Cold-shoulder maxi dress

You guys know that I'm a fan of the off-shoulder trend and I've embraced it fully. But there are so many more trends ruling the world of fashion these days but I want to touch the "cold-shoulder" trend today.
Just like the off-shoulder, the cold-shoulder is everywhere, and to be honest I'm not sure I'm liking it. You must be wondering now because you see I'm wearing the style in these photos. Let me clarify.

I don't get it! This trend has been around for some time now, and while it might work for summer, I question it during winter or colder weather, when seeing sweaters, dresses, and shirts with bare shoulders simply make me freeze. I don't know about you, but when I'm cold, I look to get warm and having any skin showing is not desired. So I never really dived into it. Until now.

Summer is here and the sweltering heat is calling for "airy" clothing, in hopes of keeping us cool, and that's where the cold-shoulder trend intervenes.
I found this dress on one of those Target runs, where you go in for a specific item and you leave with a handful and less money in your wallet.

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it but I chose to try it on, along with a few other dresses. Once I put it on though, I changed my mind - this dress is beautiful. And I have to say that the cold shoulder details compliment it perfectly.

I'm wearing a small size here and I agree that the zipper tends to get stuck a little bit (if you read the online reviews), but I've been able to close it with no issues once I brought the zipper sides together, pulling up (does this make sense?).
But enough about the dress.

There's another huge trend rocking our world and that is the basket bags. I happily jumped on the band-wagon with this one since I've loved wicker/straw anything for as long as I remember. So I can't go without mentioning this gorgeous bag, that, without even planning, matched the dress perfectly (I'm referring to the lining inside the bag - it has the same burgundy featured on my dress).
I found the bag at an antique shop and I had to have it - it's the perfect size and shape, I think. I have looked on the web and found some other equally cute (or better), check this one out, or this and this - I want them all!

What do you think of this dress? Do you like the cold-shoulder trend? Let me know in the comments.
Have a great week ahead!

XOXO,
Em
