Do these things to get yourself into the holiday spirit

This year it’s understandably more difficult for some of us to get into the holiday spirit. While we won’t be gathering or doing the usual things that have become traditions for the holidays, there are still plenty of things we can do to make this season festive, while social distancing.

For this reason, I thought of putting together a list of 14 things to do to get you into the holiday mood. You can do all of them or whatever you like the most, so here they go:

  1. Have a festive treat.

  2. Burn a holiday candle (or your favorite one).

  3. Bake holiday cookies.

  4. Make mulled wine.

  5. Paint your nails red. Try this clean nail polish, or this one, this classic one, or this quick-drying one. For a touch of festive, add a layer of glittery nail polish.

  6. Sprinkle a touch of the holidays throughout your home by adding decorations, like a Christmas throw blanket, a Christmas pillow (how adorable is this one?), Christmas towels for your kitchen (how adorable are these customizable ones or this one?), and Christmas globes or lanterns (you may also like this one) wherever you like.

  7. Watch holiday movies. We see these movies EVERY SINGLE YEAR, yet, somehow, they never get old. Yes, I’m talking about Home Alone, and Home Alone 2, The Holiday, etc. Check this list of The Best Christmas Movies of all time - I am positive by the time you’re done, you’ll be in the holiday mood.

  8. Watch The Great Christmas Light Fight.

  9. Visit the downtown of your town/city to see its decorations.

  10. Look up drive-thru Christmas Light Shows in your town/city and [safely] visit them (this article has a list for every state, in case they’re close to you). If you’re Tampa Bay local, check this list for light shows around the area.

  11. Listen to holiday music. ChristmasFM is my favorite as it plays stations from all over the world.

  12. Wear a Christmas sweater.

  13. Donate to Toys for Tots.

  14. Donate Holiday Dinner Baskets or help feed a hungry family.

Have you done any of these? Which one is your favorite?

Happy Holidays!

xoxo, Em
