Fall nostalgia

Crisps mornings… it’s not like they don’t happen around here, but they’re just not the same. They are rather sad here where the evergreen nature can’t put up with them, and just wilts away…

I remember those mornings and evenings… the air, how it smelled, how it pinched my nose… And the smoke from the fireplaces lingering nearby… there was something romantic, yet mystical about it… I didn’t appreciate them then, and, in all honesty, I’m not sure I’d appreciate them that much these days either but… I miss those days, even if I realize it’s because of nostalgia, the simple times when life seemed easier, quieter, calmer…

Appreciate these moments, one day you’ll remember them, and the feeling that will come to mind is how much you hated it then, disregarded it, and chose to focus on whatever draining thing was in front of you… Only to one day be overwhelmed with the memory and the beauty of those moments…

As we’re heading into another holiday season, we’re about to get swamped and guilted into buying, hosting, visiting, etc.

Before jumping into it, I hope you pause for a moment and evaluate things… Don’t offer your time or energy to those that don’t give you theirs, that don’t make you feel good, or drag you down — just don’t, even if they’re family! And learn to let go of the guilt that naturally comes with such actions… What does it change for you?

Choose YOU, your happiness, your well-being, and your own joy, just do it!

The holiday season is here… or the prep season for the holidays has begun… Take a deep breath and remember the above!

xo,

Em
