May at a glance...

The images are pixelated on purpose.

May was a pretty good month overall, though a busy one. Read on for an overview of what we did, watched, bought, and read (or didn’t) this past month, and more. If you’re curious about previous months, check here.

What we did

We finally made it to the Florida Aquarium, which was a fun and educational experience, one that we plan on repeating at some point. We also discovered more parks around our area and in Saint Petersburg as we tried to spend time outdoors before it gets impossible to do so.

Also, in spite of our several attempts this past month, we found that we much more enjoy getting a variety of seafood from Wild Fork (and always, always this salmon) and making a nice meal at home, rather than going to a restaurant. I guess we’re a bit of homebodies these days when it comes to certain things… That would explain a related blog post I wrote this month that’s referenced below.

May blog posts roundup

Fashion and lifestyle prevailed on the blog this past month, along with my “5 things that bring me joy this week” weekly series coming at you every Wednesday. Here’s the roundup of the blog posts published on BloomingMagnoliasBlog.com in May:

How to create a peaceful and relaxing home, because we all need and deserve a space to decompress and recharge.

Flowy skirts. Skirts were big this month as I decided to take a break from wearing my go-to dresses, and flowy styles gave me all the feels.

Skirts with pockets. Pockets are a thing of comfort for me so I had to highlight skirts featuring them.

Summer must-have accessories, because they can either make or break your outfit, and summer brings all the fun styles.

Small business jewelry picks — if you want unique jewelry, they’re your best bet.

J.Crew dresses not to miss this summer — because they’re gorgeous and perfect for your social calendar.

What I bought

This dress. No news here, I had to have it, plus, at $50, I think it was a steal. Sadly, it sold out quickly, and I am hoping for a restock, because, seriously, I love it!

This dress. Yup, I had to have this one, too, and I am so in love with it! You can say that I’m a big fan of Dalia MacPhee.

This high-frequency facial wand. I’m still figuring it out but I can say with certainty that it helps heal breakouts basically overnight.

These pearl earrings — another pair of pearl earrings, shocking, I know.

These turquoise earrings (these are very similar) as they somewhat match an octopus pendant I’ve had for years.

What I read

This has been an extremely slow month for reading, and I’m not proud of that. It might be my uninspired pick as I simply couldn’t get into the book I chose at the beginning of the month, and things only went south from there. The book in question?

The Mitford Affair by Marie Benedict. I read a few books by this author and enjoyed them, however, this one just didn’t do it for me.

What we watched

Schitt’s Creek. We rewatched this old favorite because it’s just good and it brings me joy.

The Estate. It was absolutely terrible, that’s all I have to say about it.

History of the World Part: I. Pretty funny, we enjoyed this movie one evening when the Hulu movie options staring at us were all a little too familiar.

History of the World: Part II. 40 years later, they finally made a part two… too bad that it was so inadequate that we stopped watching it after one episode… Maybe it gets better, but we didn’t have the patience to find out.
