Nautical stripes for effortless style
I really like stripes, and my closet reflects that plenty. To me, stripes represent timelessness, elegance, and/or playfulness, depending on the garment’s cut or style. I believe they are a favorite print among many (remember the saying “ there’s no such thing as too many stripes”?) and can be dressed up or down, as the occasion calls.
Nautical stripes particularly evoke carelessness and elegance at the same time, and there’s no wonder they’re so loved by the French women.
So on a day when we ventured into the city after a long period of almost complete isolation, I decided to step it up a bit and wear this striped sweater and ankle-length slacks. After all, Florida has been quite cold lately, and this forced me to give my dresses a break. And in case you’re wondering, we’re still not meeting with people in person, but do visit places where we can stay away from crowds, with the exception of a museum we went to. I shared a bit on my Instagram stories about that - follow me there so you don’t miss them, and I’ll share here at a different time.
About this sweater… I bought it a few years ago from H&M, and to this day, it’s still a favorite of mine. I wore it countless times for work, and for play, and I really like the gold shoulder details - it’s too bad that brands don’t bring back sold out or older but classic pieces back more often.
I have to say that this look fitted perfectly with the scenery around Downtown Saint Petersburg… I mean, how pretty is this background?
And since stripes are the topic of this post, I had to share what I’ve found at some of my go-to retailers - if something is sold out, you can sign up with some of them to receive notification for when the item comes back in stock.
Which of these is your favorite?
P.S. The ring and scarf I’m wearing were bought as souvenirs from our trip to Italy, but I found and liked this, this, and this as beautiful options (plus, you support a small business by purchasing).
Until next time.
xoxo,
Em
