October at a glance...

Bye-bye October…

WHAT I/WE DID

Little did we know that days after one devastating hurricane hit our area at the end of September, another more destructive one would hit again… It was scary and it left behind a path of destruction, but we escaped mostly unscathed.

In all honesty, this month was a bit of a blur. We had to cancel or limit plans due to hurricane impacts, but we managed to attend our first symphony concert (it was on our must-do list), and I truly can’t wait to go back. Oh, and of course, we voted early!

On the blog, I added a Holidays page where I’m sharing stories, gift ideas, Holiday outfit ideas, and Holiday decor, of course, among other things.

Read on for more of how our October unfolded.

OCTOBER BLOG POSTS ROUNDUP

I tried to maintain a sense of normalcy on the blog, when, literally, around us nothing was… Here’s what I published on BloomingMagnoliasBlog.com in October:

5 things that bring me joy this week. The weekly series intended to ignite feel-good sentiments.

When you love a dress, get it in every color... I mean it when I say that I love this dress, and the latest color might be the most favorite of them all!

A dress that stands out... Another stunning Dalia MacPhee dress I’ll cherish for a long time…

Banana Republic Factory new arrivals. I’m eyeing several things on this list.

Fall things that caught my eye... Quite a few great fall-style finds though some will take you beyond that.

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. The Amazon things I have (and love) and more finds from their big sale days.

September at a glance... The monthly recap going strong.

What I bought

With everything that’s happened this month, I did not plan on shopping, but, as usual, I failed. Here’s what I purchased in October:

This asymmetrical off-the-shoulder top (I’m also eyeing this one; both are on sale). I’ve been thinking about it and since it went on sale, I bought it, though I have yet to receive it. I bought it in my usual size, but some reviews say it runs small.

This dress. It’s gorgeous but it runs small if you’re curvy, the fabric has very little stretch, and the cream is see-through as it’s unlined. I bought it in my true size (small) and it’s basically fitted. I’m keeping it, though.

My first Hill House dress, which is now sold out. Did you know they sold over 1 million Nap dresses? Use code MILLION to save 25% off the iconic Nap Dress this weekend only!

The following items were gifted to me, but I thought of including them since I have a discount code for you: these stunning earrings and this gorgeous bracelet. Use code DBJMM10 for 10% off any order. I don’t accept many gifted products, but when I discover something I really like, you’ll find me talking about it.

This beautiful Dalia MacPhee dress I can’t have enough (I have it in 3 colors, 2 bought, one gifted). Full review here.

MY MOST WORN ITEM(s) IN October

We didn’t go out much this month, but every time we did, I wore something different. I did wear this dress a few times for running errands though, so I guess this is it. I still love it years after I bought it.

Oh, and my new favorite sunglasses (I have them in three colors).

The most worn item in October — this dress. TTS, shop it here.

WHAT I READ

I’m not too proud to admit that I did not read any books of interest this month, or worth mentioning. My mind was just not in it…

What we watched

Bad Sisters. This show made me furious but it’s a good one nonetheless. Slow building, a bit of a whirlwind with unexpected turns, it’s definitely worth watching! Can’t wait for season two to come out on November 13th!

A Discovery of Witches. A clip of it popped up on my Explore page on Instagram, I looked it up and decided to watch it. We enjoyed the first season, even though it felt like things were happening very fast. The second season was fairly boring and slow (though it picks up towards the end), and season three was better but missing something. I did enjoy how it ended though. I am sure the books are far better, but I haven’t read them, and probably won’t; if you’re interested in the genre, keep them in mind.

Rivals. We started watching this as an influencer I follow praised it up and down. However, we stopped watching it because of the heavily explicit content. It has potential, but just like with The Great, they had to ruin it. We may finish watching it, but we found a better show to watch instead, and that is…

Bad Monkey. As I mentioned in September, we think AppleTV+ makes a lot of great shows, and Bad Monkey is one of them. I really, really liked it!

Beetlejuice (the 1988 version). I’m not much of a Halloween person, but I try to get in the spirit, or at least, familiarize myself with the Halloween movies everyone talks about. I’m sorry to report that I did not like it (except for the Day-o Banana Boat song scene — that was the best!).

WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE ON THE INTERNET

This bracelet (or any other jewelry piece) will make a great gift for a loved one. Use code DBJMM10 for 10% off your order.

This fringe cardigan is a fun addition to holiday looks. Wear it over a slip dress, with a skirt, denim, or trousers.

I am dreaming about this bag!

This sparkling boat neck top is perfect for the holiday season!

Still drooling over this dress.

This U.S. Beach Was Named Best in the Nation for Its Turquoise Waters and Sunrise Views. Is that a surprise?

Oh, November, please be peaceful and give us wonderful news!
