Restyling a favorite dress

I shared this dress back in July 2024, styled for the summer season, and as it’s now back in a slightly different style — aka, with short sleeves and a boatneck rather than sleeveless with a mock neck, I thought of sharing it again. Worn a bit differently, of course.

Outfit details: dress (similar); leather basket bag (I love it!); patent leather belt; sunglasses (I have them in three colors); sweater from Loft (sold out); flats by Sarah Flint, currently sold out (code SF-EM-15 will save you 15% on your first order of $230 or more).

I am infatuated with this dress — it’s elegant, comfortable, and versatile. But, to be perfectly honest, I love this new style more and I’m having a hard time convincing myself not to buy it. Note that it also comes in a striped top with a black skirt and a white top with a tan skirt. Did I mention this dress has pockets?

This dress is perfect to wear to work and outside of it and can be dressed up or down. I prefer dressing it up, of course, and this time I had pops of red in mind as I decided to wear it with this patent leather wide waist belt; I’m so happy with this belt and I’ve worn it with several outfits already — it’s the piece de resistance for any look, for sure.

I coordinated it with my cherry-red Sarah Flint Natalie ballet flats and this multicolor leather basket bag I adore (it’s a great size and goes with so many outfits!). I finished the look with a now sold-out nautically-inspired sweater I bought a while ago from Loft (the quality can be a hit or a miss, but they definitely have a variety of cute pieces). Since it was a warm day, I opted to wear the sweater over my shoulders.

Looking at this outfit, I have to say I love a good navy and red combo.

The sizing of the dress is accurate and I recommend your usual. If you’re in between sizes, I’d suggest your smaller one because the top is stretchy.

Note that the top is made of a blend of cotton, modal, and elastane, while the skirt is made of non-stretchy cotton with a nice weight to it. Yes, the skirt, particularly wrinkles, but I spray it with this wrinkle-releaser (it’s amazing!) after washing it and it’s good to go.

Hey, look, now I can cross the second “goal” off my 2025 list, right? 😉
