RoC Skincare Brightening Gel Moisturizer with Vitamin C review

I just finished this jar last night and I thought of sharing my impressions about it. My first thought is that I will definitely purchase this again. Read on for the reasons why…

About the brand

RoC started as a French skincare company that was established in 1957 by a pharmacist in Paris. Over the years, it’s been working with dermatologists to develop multiple innovative skincare products, including “the first broad spectrum UV protection in a sunscreen to proactively prevent signs of aging”, as well as “the first over-the-counter Retinol product, making it possible for daily use – and for women everywhere to recapture a smoother and healthy-looking complexion”. Read more about them here.

About the product

As described by the brand: “The Revive + Glow contains RoC’s most potent Vitamin C, an Active 10% Blend, proven to deliver brighter, tighter skin to 100% of women in just 4 weeks. This proprietary blend combines a highly stable form of Vitamin C with complementary Peptides, Antioxidants, and Advanced Hydrators for enhanced efficacy – to deliver clinically proven results you can’t achieve from Vitamin C alone”.

Price

First, this Vitamin C gel cream is affordable, under $30 if you purchase from the brand directly, and under $25 if you shop it at Walmart. Either way, that is a great price.

Consistency

The consistency is a smooth, creamy, yet light gel. It goes on easily and feels like it melts into the skin, leaving it immediately glowing.

Results

When I consistently used it, I 100% noticed a difference, and pretty quickly. I say that because I have used it on and off, and only because I have too many products, and am eager to try them all…

Don’t get me wrong though, I have definitely used it enough to see how it works… For example, on a recent trip, I wanted to pack as light as possible, especially when it comes to my skincare and makeup as I already had a long list of items to bring on. After careful consideration, I decided to only bring this gel moisturizer to “cover” my skincare regimen for the week (minus eye cream and sunscreen, obviously). I was a bit nervous as normally, I use more products than this in my routine, but I had made up my mind that it would have to do. And it did.

Generally, I hear many complaints about how travel wreaks havoc on people’s skin, and that is usually the case for me too. However, when on this particular vacation, I literally washed my face with this cleanser (I believe it is discontinued now) and applied my eye cream and this gel cream (+ sunscreen during the day), and that was it. I was surprised to find that my skin hadn’t broken out at all, and wasn’t showing the usual signs like dullness and dehydration I experience when traveling. And those results were in spite of the extreme wind we had that week, and the fact that we mostly spent our days on the beach.

Bottom line

You can say that this product passed the test and I recommend it with confidence. Even if it hasn’t cleared my hyperpigmentation a lot, it sure has improved my overall complexion and faded whatever other spots I have.

Overall, this is a light moisturizer, and like with any skincare product, it won’t replace drinking water. Remember what they say about skin health? That it comes from within and starts with proper nutrition and hydration. Hence, no cream will ever replace drinking water. I have been using several RoC Skincare products, and I have to say that I am pretty impressed so far, and will continue using.

Have you tried RoC Skincare, and particularly this gel cream?

xo,

Em
