R.Vivimos floral puff sleeve midi dress

I shared a while ago that I gave in and bought a few dresses from Amazon Fashion that I’ve been seeing all over Instagram for the past year (it was the flowy-ness that did it for me, as well as the feminine and “cottagecore” vibes). While I have to admit that out of those dresses, I much prefer this one and this one, this past weekend, I finally wore this floral dress for a day of “out and about.”

Like the other two dresses, there are many questions about this dress, so I wanted to dedicate a post to it in case you’re also eyeing it but are unsure about its quality.

So, about that - the quality is not bad. The dress is well made, though you might have to pick a few loose threads here and there. The fabric is a texturized “stripy” cotton which makes it less boring. It can be worn on or off the shoulders; I wore it as seen in the pictures, with a strapless bra (my favorites are linked here). The smocked bodice feels a bit heavier, though the skirt part is light and flowy, making it perfect to wear in warm and hot weather, and I think I will be wearing it a lot come spring and summer here.

The dress features a slit on each side and is lined, though the lining is pretty short - mid-thigh in my case - if you look carefully at the first photo, you can see it. I wouldn’t say the dress is see-through, though, just to be sure, you can always wear a half-slip like this one or this one underneath it.

Though the instructions in the description say to hand wash it, I’ve thrown it in the washer twice already, with no problems. Because it’s cotton, it does wrinkle a lot so ironing or steaming is necessary, or it will look frumpy.

I ordered it in “beige#1” as indicated on the site. Though it’s not my favorite color, I wanted to get away from the blues I’m seemingly always wearing (seriously, my closet is full of blue), and I couldn’t decide on the rest of the colors. I really liked and wanted it in the “light-yellow” daisy print, but I was afraid it would be too see-through, so I went with this beige color instead. My husband calls it “strawberry shortcake” since the flowers on it look like strawberries from afar.

I will have to agree with what the reviews on Amazon say about the sleeves - the elastic is tight and can get uncomfortable for long wear, and feel like “pinching”, as well as leave [temporary] marks on your arms. Otherwise, the dress is extremely comfortable, and flattering.

Since it was a warm day, I wore it with the mule sandals I’ve had for a few years now.

I hope this answers the questions you might have about this dress.

Until next time.

xoxo,

Em
