Seersucker linen maxi dress

I adore linen. And I'm so glad the fashion industry adores it too this year and is bringing this fabric in different clothing pieces and styles.

The reason I love linen so much is that it's the perfect fabric for warm weather since it allows the skin to breathe, absorbs water and promotes comfort. Not to mention that it's durable, as in, you'll have your linen pieces for years and years to come. I have a few skirts made from this fabric, which are more than 10 years old and still look almost like new. I also like the fact that linen has a nice movement to it. Yes, it's true that linen wrinkles easily but it doesn't bother me as those wrinkles don't look as bad as in other fabrics, like, say, soft cotton.

I've been looking for linen pieces to add to my wardrobe so when I saw this maxi dress, I instantly went "heart-eyes". Also, I have to admit that the other reason I loved this dress was because of the seersucker stripes. I've been into stripes a lot lately - my closet is getting more and more stuffed with them. Hubby jokes that I love wearing stripes because I'm "in prison", aka married to him (honey, I'll take that kind of prison any day, and I have been for almost 6 years now).

I wore this dress for a day out and about in Santa Barbara and it didn't go unnoticed - I received compliments and questions like where it's from.

I completed the look with my white cat-eye sunglasses and espadrilles (get them here or here - go down half a size), that I've been wearing everywhere lately.

While there's only one of this dress left in stock, I'm linking a few other ones that I really like and wish I could add to my closet, like this one here, here, here, here and here and even this very simple one. See other linen dresses I love that are a bit more "modern" here, here, here, here and here.

By the way, if you worry about linen being a bit see-through, one way I ensure that I'm not showing more than I intend to is by wearing this slip (in the nude) or these shorties under my dresses or skirts. Just note that the slip tends to "gather" around my wait so I end up wearing the shorties more.

Are you adding linen to your closet this summer?

Until next time.
XOXO,
Em
