Summer shirt dresses

This season, I have been searching for more shirt dresses to add to my closet, and I was so happy to find this seersucker one (also available here and here in limited sizes and here in beige/grey and white stripes).

There’s no doubt that I’ve been falling hard for colorful prints as of late, but when I came across this shirt dress, it just spoke to me. There was a time when stripes and seersucker were the main “heroes” in my closet (specifically while living in California), so this particular find felt like home. Its simple elegance drew me in immediately, and the pockets were what sealed the deal (yes, I’m a big fan). Plus, the style is a classic and one to remain a favorite of mine, I’m sure.

Note that the fabric for this particular dress is not too light, though if you wear dark undergarments, they will show (this post details how to prevent/correct that issue). As far as sizing, I think it runs slightly large as I’m actually wearing a size smaller than my normal, and as you can see, it’s like it was made for my body. This is not the first clothing item I have by this brand — I also have this dress in a navy/white gingham pattern seen here — needless to say, this is another classic and favorite in my wardrobe.

I received so many compliments on this shirt dress when wearing it out and about. Oh, and yes, I’ve been wearing these espadrilles exclusively these days due to a nasty spider bite on my leg (the espadrilles are the last year’s version of these). The laces are covering that bite perfectly while it’s healing. If you’re looking for a lace-up option, check out these, or these for a more affordable option — they’re made by Anne Klein, the same brand as my shirt dress.

I have these espadrilles in red as well (and have been wearing them a lot), though they are currently sold out — check out these for a similar style.

You might have noticed that I’ve been wearing this bag non-stop lately as well. That’s because we’ve either been running out the door, or I’ve been too lazy to change my purses — either way, I love it as it’s the perfect size to carry all the essentials, and it’s well made.

I do plan on styling this striped shirt dress with this wicker bag and a straw belt as well. That’s what I love about this dress the most — that it’s versatile and elegant, while minimalistic.
