Summer style essentials

Dress, sold out, similar here and here; backpack, sold out in brown, available in other colors here.

I can’t say that summer is my favorite season, but I 100% can say that I love dressing for it - why else do you think we moved to Florida?

Light clothing, feminine accessories, easy shoes, all these are staples for summer living and, in my case, what mostly occupies my closet and what I prefer to wear.

As the 4th of July weekend is upon us, summer is now in full swing, and while, I surely am dreaming of strolling through the South of Italy or Provence (my forever dream also fueled by my current read), I’ll have to settle with local strolls here in Florida for the time being. Not that THAT is a bad thing since there is a lot to discover around us and even in the US, once we decide to travel further out again.

Whether you’re headed to the beach or pool this summer, or someplace else, these are style items that are indispensable for the season and shouldn’t miss from your closet or packing list.

Hats

Preferably, in different styles (fedoras for the city, wide-brim for the beach, etc.). Apart from keeping you safe from the sun, hats are also great accessories - make sure you grab one before heading to the beach, or even a stroll in the park.

Sunglasses

They are indispensable as accessories as well as protection for your eyes (did you know that your eyes can also get sunburned?). Make sure to always have a pair of sunglasses handy when heading out.

Sandals

They make it easy to slide into either for running errands or leisure. These linked below go with everything.

Espadrilles

I *adore* espadrilles and consider them to be versatile shoes and an absolute summer-style staple. Coming in flat or heeled versions, you can find a pair to go with everything in your closet.

A Straw/wicker bag.

Either for going to the beach or a stroll around town, straw/wicker bags have earned, it seems, a permanent spot in fashion, and I don’t mind it one bit. With so many styles out there, you’re bound to find the perfect one!

A Linen dress (or more)

My love for linen is limitless, and I highly recommend wearing clothes made from this fabric in the summer. Linen is breathable and absorbs moisture, hence keeping you comfortable during summer’s hot days.

A Cotton dress (or more)

Same as with linen, wearing cotton in the summer will help you stay cool and comfortable (or, as much as one can be on sweltering days).

A White dress

I can’t imagine summer without a white dress - they’re chic, they keep us cool and they always stand out. I certainly have a weakness for them! The best part? They literally go with anything, so dressing will be a breeze!

A Swimsuit + bodysuit

Bodysuits are great for any season, worn with skirts, jeans, pants, under a suit, etc., and, for bodysuits, I prefer a thong one as I can’t stand any VPL (the one linked comes in more colors). If you’re opting for a bodysuit or a one-piece swimsuit, I’d recommend going up one size to ensure comfort.

A Scarf/coverup

A must for picnics or a meal by the beach or when spending time at the pool.
