What's in, and what's out in 2024

These posts, the “in” and “out” in 2024, have been circulating these last few weeks online, and I thought of sharing mine here, on the blog, rather than have it get lost and forgotten in a square somewhere.

I guess we can call these resolutions, goals, or intentions — the wording doesn’t matter that much in this case; it’s the action that interests me. I began a somewhat forced transformation in 2023 and I wish to continue with it. My long-term goal is to have this song’s title fully reflect my reality and to mean every second of it when I sing along to the chorus. It’s a powerful thing!

Here’s what’s on my “in” and “out” lists for 2024:

IN

Wearing what makes me happy, no matter the trends. Appreciating the small things. Self-care. Having fun. Seeking joy. More museum visits. Inner and outer peace. Eating healthy, nourishing foods. Drinking more tea versus coffee. Moving my body. Meditating. Reading more books. Staying organized. Food prepping. More fresh flowers. Snuggling. Making photobooks of all those forgotten photos I can’t and don’t want to delete. Wearing my pearls. Wearing my scarves rather than just collecting them. Exploring more creativity.

OUT

Feeling guilty for taking breaks. Feeling guilty for saying no. Scrolling to kill time; instead, tackle those DIY projects I’ve been wanting to do, or simply read — my reading list is so long, and I complain that I don’t have enough time for it! Chaos of any kind. Stressing over things that are out of my control. Finishing bad books or shows/movies — time’s too limited to waste on that. Caring about what others think — they’re not living my life, I am. To-do lists in my head; write them down — that way I don’t stress that I am forgetting something.

What's in and what’s out for you in 2024?
