April at a glance...

April at a glance... | Blooming Magnolias Blog | Lifestyle, fashion, month at a glance, handbag, mule sandals, Target dress, Walmart dress

I will remember you, April 2024.

WHAT I/WE DID

April was a pretty good month… They said there would be a shift after the solar eclipse, and I’m starting to think it was true? It’s a nice change after some intense years.

There’s been a good mix of things this month — plenty of time spent outdoors exploring, visiting, and revisiting places, including Busch Gardens, lots of walking, etc. You can say that we’ve had an active month.

April BLOG POSTS ROUNDUP

My recent style finds inspired most of this month’s blog posts:

A bag that stands out. It’s one of my favorite bags in terms of style and size. I’m so glad I found it!

5 things that bring me joy this week. Because it’s the little things that keep us going…

A surprisingly good dress from Walmart and other finds. No, really!

Spring and summer dresses and accessories. A roundup of beautiful dresses for every occasion, and the accessories to accompany them.

What to wear under those see-through dresses... Had to give this post a refresh.

This pleated dress with pockets from Target is a dream. And it was just restocked!

A classic spring dress. Truly, that’s how I see this dress. The fabric is heavy, so it will be perfect for cooler days/months here.

Embracing the bucket bag trend. All it takes to accept a trend you dislike is finding one item that changes your mind.

WHAT I BOUGHT

Some of my note-worthy April purchases are…

This midi bandeau dress in white. After loving it in blue and white stripes, I had to have it in white, too.

This linen-blend maxi dress. It’s been on my [secret] wishlist for months until I decided it was time to have it.

This poplin eyelet dress. A spur-of-the-moment buy, this dress was well worth it!

This perfume. Another “just browsing” find on Amazon. The jury’s still out on what my thoughts on it are…

This perfume oil. I love this one, but it’s much sweeter than I hoped.

This jewelry cleaner solution set for fine and silver jewelry, as well as this delicate one for costume jewelry.

MY MOST WORN ITEM IN April

Hands down, this bucket bag. Can’t help it — I love it!

WHAT WE WATCHED

Argyle. It was okay. It started off better and took a weird turn after a while.

Resident Alien. This is the last time I’ll talk about this show for a while, as we’re now all done with season 3, and waiting eagerly to hear about its season 4 renewal… Still, the best comedy show out there!

The Golden Girls. Still watching this on and off and still enjoying it.

Dune. I’m not really a fan of futuristic movies, but I watched it because my husband wants to see Dune: Part Two. Din’t hate it, didn’t love it...

The Maze Runner. We’re out of ideas on what to watch these days, so we’ve been “revisiting” older movies we enjoyed watching.

Prison Break. We started watching it but didn’t get very far to have a real opinion about it yet.

Ghosts (US version). We finally got around to watching this after adoring the UK version. I am really liking it, but still think the original is better.

WHAT I READ

I finished Secrets on the Italian Island by T. A. Williams which I started last month. “Her work has got in the way of relationships before – but never like this”.

I loved this book overall, minus a few annoying details. That aside, this novel was a nice, light read that immediately transported me to Italy.

The Little Italian Hotel by Phaedra Patrick. “When a relationship expert’s own marriage falls apart, she invites four strangers to Italy for a vacation of healing and second chances in this uplifting new novel from the author of The Messy Lives of Book People.”

Heartbreak and healing… This book had a little trouble drawing me in at first, but it captured my heart fully a few chapters in… One scene, in particular, even if short-lived, is engraved in my brain as it warmed my heart beyond measure. I would love to see this novel made into a TV show or a movie.

The Library of Lost and Found by Phaedra Patrick. “A librarian’s discovery of a mysterious book sparks the journey of a lifetime.”

I’m very close to finishing this book and I’m not sure what to think of it still. Most of the story left me exasperated? I am determined to read it till the end — there’s gotta be something about all its good reviews?

SONG OF THE MONTH

I am a creature of habit still listening to the music from years ago… But… this message!
