Coronado, CA
Out of all the places in SoCal, Coronado is our top favorite. This small peninsula that everyone chooses to call an island is as charming as it can be. House to the world-famous Hotel Del, and a beautiful beach, it's a place that attracts many tourists, and yet, maintains a very relaxed pace. While the "island" is about 32 square miles, it has a lot to offer. We, of course, love the beach, but also love to walk its streets and admire the diverse houses and architecture.
On clear days, you can see Point Loma and Mexico's Islands of Coronado, as well as the many sailboats on the horizon.
This weekend we were finally blessed with gorgeous summer weather, and naturally, we wanted to spend it outdoors. The rain and cold from the last two months kept us indoors, so we were more than eager to get outside once the sun started shining. I still find it most interesting how San Diego weather jumps from winter to summer in what seems like a day.
I could not wait for us to head to Coronado, and especially to the beach, as there I feel the happiest. Faced with the never-ending ocean, I forget about all the problems and day-to-day life. Watching the ocean clears my head and bring the most pleasant feeling of calmness and joy; I will so dearly miss it when we leave San Diego.
Once at the beach, we allowed ourselves to be carefree children and literally play in the sand. We studied the tiny seashells, muscles, and algae, draw a sailboat in the sand and watched the waves advance and retract. While we avoided the cold water, we thoroughly enjoyed the warm sand, which sparkled like glitter - I assume from the crushed seashells.
Have you visited Coronado? What do you like to do there?
Until next time.
XOXO,
Em
