Goodbye, Florence

Goodbye, Florence | Blooming Magnolias Blog | Travel

Our last day in Florence... Seated at what has become “our” breakfast table, we’re once again admiring the Duomo.
Dark clouds seem to be taking over the horizon, moving fast. Yet, we’re unmoved. The chilly air lingers around us. With my jacket on, I bite into my warm chocolate croissant and for the umpty time admire this sumptuous building. I stop and listen... for a minute it seems that time has stopped... total silence around us... the city seems to still be asleep. The shutters are closed, the buzz of life is completely missing... everything is still... I take a sip of my coffee and think that time really does move slower in Florence... Thoughts are racing through my mind. I can't seem to be able to put them in order just yet... I'm in no rush... I just want to live in this present moment for as long as it lasts...
