Upstate New York

Prior to our trip to Europe, we spent about a month in Upstate New York, spending time with family and preparing ourselves for the time we will be abroad.

The weather has been cold with a lot of rain, but we managed to get some sunny days that allowed us to spend some time outdoors exploring. We took advantage of the time in Adirondacks and visited a bit of the area.

We visited Lake Champlain, which is home to the "Champ", the Lake Champlain monster - sadly we saw no monster, but instead an impressive view with surprisingly calm water and birds flying over the surface. It still being very early in the season, we were able to enjoy some quiet time there without the crowds.

After a quick ride through Westport, where we found signs of spring with these pretty Siberian squill flowers, we headed to Port Henry.

With Port Henry being a small town, we didn't spend much time there, but we had to stop and take photos of this gorgeous old church, before heading to another lake...

...or a pond to be more exact - Lincoln Pond... that's pretty big and beautiful at the same time.

Spring might not be fully here yet, but this area is beautiful in its own way. If you do ever plan to visit, make sure you check Whiteface Mountain (opening May 24 for the summer season) - trust me, it's worth it!
