Fall style in Florida

As much as we’re all dreaming of fall-like weather here in Florida, the reality is that it still feels like summer. It’s hot. And that means that we’re still wearing summer clothes over here, and in my case, that means I still live in dresses. Yes, really.

I don’t remember when was the last time I wore pants, but it was definitely sometime last spring. And as far as shorts… I simply don’t own any and have no plans to add them to my wardrobe yet. The fact is that I live in dresses and have no problem wearing one all the time because I simply adore them, and I feel the most comfortable in them. So my fall style in Florida is no different than the summer one, at least until it cools down enough to be comfortable wearing pants. I run hot, so wearing them is out of the question until temperatures go below 75F, at the very least.

I shared recently that I caved in and bought a popular dress from Amazon in two colors (burgundy and sage, or as indicated on the site, “green-1”), and reviewed it in this post since I know many are wary about shopping for clothes on Amazon. And, the more I wear this dress, the more I become obsessed with it. It can also be worn on or off the shoulders, and I can’t get over how comfortable and flowy it is - I really love flowy dresses, especially because I believe they work on most body types.

But back to this sage dress. Because it is lighter in color than the burgundy one, it lets in a bit more light, so if you’re worried about that, I recommend wearing nude underwear, and/or a half-slip or slip shorts. Otherwise, the dress is a dream: it’s soft, it’s airy, and it’s flattering, making it perfect for a day of exploring. Which for us meant visiting the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park; it’s where the only surviving plantation house in South Florida and the oldest building in Manatee County is located.

We didn’t tour the inside. We would have had to wait for more than an hour for that as tours are set for certain times, but we walked around the property a bit before we left for another destination. If you find yourself in the area, you may want to visit it, tours are $6 for adults, and the grounds offer a nice picnic area if you want to make a day of it.

And yes, these photos were all taken there. It seems to be a popular area for photos, as there were other people having photo shoots, so keep that in mind, if visiting.

Happy Friday!
