Have you tried the seamed dress trend?
If there’s one trend in dresses I recommend trying this spring and summer, it’s the seamed (or paneled dress) trend. It’s taken over these last two years and I love it because I think it’s incredibly flattering on just about anyone.
I’ve since acquired a few dresses in this style, but as with any of my purchases, I don’t just go by the trend — I choose items I love and know I’ll be wearing years from now. That means I prioritize quality and material composition — I still prefer linen, cotton, or a blend of the two above anything else.
This dress I’m wearing sold out pretty fast and I thought I missed it. It’s a [less flared] version of the now-famous Wells dress by Staud, a dress I’d been infatuated with the moment I saw it. I’m, however, still not willing to pay full price for it, and sadly, I missed a few good sales in December on colors I wanted.
But back to my dress… One day, I noticed it was back and this time, on clearance. Lo and behold, it sold out again before I could make the purchase, so I was sure that was the end of my “love story” with it. Well, it wasn’t, obviously. It came back later in my size and that’s when I got lucky (Banana Republic Factory does this, I noticed, so if you’re eying something, keep checking back — you might just get lucky). Anyway, this is silly, I know, but this is another classic dress I intend to keep forever. Side note: I have no shame in buying items on clearance, as long as those items are classics in style and cut, and, to mention again, are made of materials I look for.
As far as how I wore it, I felt like dressing it up a bit with a pearl choker I found a while back (this one, this one, and this one are in the same style), these pearl bow earrings, my Sarah Flint Natalie slingbacks, and these oversized sunglasses.
All in all, a simple yet elegant (and classic) look.
The exact dress I’m wearing might be sold out, but this dress (also available here) is basically identical. This is another similar style in a linen blend and colors more suited for spring — I have it in a green version that’s no longer available, and I’m also eyeing it in this coral blossom. It fits true to size and it’s a flattering and comfortable dress.
