OSEA Malibu bestsellers review
About two months ago, I received a gift from Osea Malibu — a mini collection of their best sellers, just in time for the cold weather, aka the season of unhappy skin.
I don’t know about you, but my skin does not love the cold and it sure “throws a fit” whenever that happens. Itchy, dry, and flaky is the look of the season, and my usual products don’t do much for it. So yes, Osea couldn’t have come at a better time, given the extended and not-exactly-normal (for Florida) low temperatures we experienced only weeks ago. I was miserable and so was my skin. I had to try their products immediately and after getting really familiar with them, I’m sharing my opinions about each one below.
Osea Malibu is celebrating its 29th birthday this week (through the 17th of February) and they’re offering limited-edition gifts with purchase (spoiler alert — the more you stock up, the better the gifts get 😉).
Undaria Algae Body Oil
I dare say Osea Malibu is famous for its Undaria algae body oil (this entire collection, really), and for a good reason — this product is an experience! The light citrusy smell alone wakes up your senses (however, if you prefer fragrance-free skincare, such a version is, of course, available).
I generally avoid oils because my skin is oily by default, and they tend to “stay on” without doing much. Apart from that unpleasant oily feeling, as soon as I wash them off, my skin is back to looking sad and feeling dry.
The Undaria algae body oil is different from other oils I’ve used so far. I won’t say it fully absorbs because that’s not the case for me (I use less product to avoid that), though it does leave my skin supple, glowy, and hydrated. The results are long-lasting, especially with continued use.
Overall, I really like this product, but it’s not the one I reach for by default; that product is the…
Anti-Aging Body Balm
Yep, from the Osea products I’ve tried so far, my favorite is the anti-aging body balm. I love the sweet yet somewhat citrusy smell, and better yet, I love how my skin feels and looks after applying it — it’s supple, baby-soft, and hydrated. Given the creamier consistency, I like to apply it all over as it absorbs much better than the undaria body oil. Another happy result? No more itchy skin when I’m trying to fall asleep at night!
As with any product, however, I found that the results are so much better when using this…
Salts of the Earth Body Scrub
You want your skincare products to penetrate the skin, rather than get lost in the dead cells, and for that, you need to exfoliate beforehand. This salts of the earth body scrub is heavenly. Apart from the fact that it smells absolutely amazing (and non-artificial, I have to add), it leaves the skin baby-smooth and refreshed — you’ll feel like a new human after using this! It’s a must-use in winter and anytime your skin needs to shine!
But wait, I can’t ignore my face… let’s start with this…
Ocean Cleanser
From a skin cleanser, I only have two expectations: to actually clean it and not leave it dry/stripped, and that’s pretty much it.
I can honestly say this cleanser pleasantly surprised me. First of all, it smells amazing (no artificial smell there!). Secondly, it lathers nicely and cleanses my skin effectively. I prefer to use it in the morning because it leaves my skin hydrated and luminous. Plus, the smell sure helps wake up my senses — call it a mini-spa session in my bathroom each morning to start my day.
After cleansing my skin, I move on with the…
Hyaluronic Sea Serum
Formulated, among other things, with snow mushroom, an ingredient I am familiar with and loved in a now-discontinued product from another brand, this serum was an immediate yes. Note that it has a smell that some find unpleasant, but it doesn’t last on me.
The serum itself has a sticky consistency but absorbs immediately leaving the skin plump, soft, and dewy. With consistent use, my complexion looks youthful overall, and fine lines are smoothed out.
To finish my routine, I add the…
Atmosphere Protection Cream
This is a great lightweight everyday moisturizer, best suited for the warm season. Non-irritating, it absorbs fast and leaves my skin luminous and feeling supple. The scent makes me think of myrrh — definitely not unpleasant to me. The smell dissipates after a while, but if you prefer fragrance-free skincare, may I suggest this cream?
I do hope the packaging is improved though, as it gets tricky trying to get all the product out towards the end.
In conclusion, Osea Malibu has been on my radar for years and I’m glad I finally got to explore it more.
I will admit that overall, I am partial to their body care products (worth noting since their body products are so rich, a little goes a long way).
I do want to try next the Undaria algae body lotion and the Undaria algae body butter from their body line, and the ocean cleansing mud, along with the seaglow resurfacing scrub from their face line.
Have you tried their products before? If so, do you have a favorite?
