A timeless classic shirt dress
If you want to build a timeless wardrobe, consider adding this classic shirt dress to it.
I eyed this shirt dress the moment it became available. With a classic silhouette and details, I knew it’s a piece I would be wearing year after year without looking dated. Plus, it’s perfect for various occasions, including wearing to the office.
This shirt dress comes with a self-tie belt, which I love for creating a cohesive look, but I equally enjoy swapping it with any other belt. In the photo above, I wore it with a straw belt for a summery and less formal look overall. As a fun detail, I added a silk scarf, trigerring my husband to call this my “flight attendant outfit”.
I finished my look by adding a favorite multicolored leather basket bag I’ve had for several years; I adore it simply because it goes with so many items in my closet and because it’s a unique piece I haven’t seen anywhere else so far! But back to the dress…
It feels and looks almost like a trench dress. It has pockets and an oversized fit — if you’re in between sizes, I recommend going with the smaller one.
It comes in four colors — this “Santa Monica blue” (which I found irresistible), black, emerald (green), and charcoal stripe. All in all, it’s of great quality and as timeless as it gets. This is the piece to shop if you’re looking to build a classic wardrobe.
Side note: Because it’s made of 100% cotton, it wrinkles, especially after washing. However, I use this spray all over to take care of that. Of course, ironing or steaming would do the same; I’m just not a fan of it.
Outfit details, Look 1: shirt dress (TTS, size down if in between sizes); similar straw belt (I also love this very chic one); leather basket bag (currently on sale; also available in brown); sunglasses (also available as sets in other colors); shoes were a local find, but I also love these, these, and these.
Outfit details, Look 2: shirt dress; silk scarf unavailable in this exact color, but I love this one (which I have), this one, this one, and this one; similar sunglasses; bucket bag is no longer available — similar here, here, here, here, and here; similar fisherman sandals here and here.
