Midi skirts for spring
It’s no surprise I bought this midi skirt; after all, I do have somewhat of an obsession with blue and white. Plus, I thought it would be a great piece to wear this spring and summer, given that it’s made of poplin, which is very breathable.
For a relaxed look, I paired it with this cropped poplin top. However, I have a love/hate relationship with this top. I love it because it’s lightweight and airy, thus perfect for keeping you cool during hot weather. I do find that it runs big, and I recommend going down one size. My hate for it comes from the fact that it wrinkles badly (something expected with natural fabrics like poplin), even if this wrinkle release spray does wonders with it. The verdict is still out for me on this one — I think it would have looked much better if I went with a smaller size. This top, however, would have been a better option overall.
Speaking of cropped tops, I’m also considering this linen one to wear with this skirt, as well as others, and high-waisted trousers, denim, or shorts. And yes, I’m aware linen wrinkles just as badly, but that doesn’t bother me as much.
The fabric of this skirt is lightweight but has zero stretch, and given that, I went up in size. However, I think I should have stuck with my usual. The skirt is unlined but not necessarily sheer. I would still advise taking precautions.
The photo on the website gives the idea of a wrap skirt, but that is not the case. The self-tie belt is removable, so you can swap it for your various looks.
You can wear this skirt with just about any top — I like the idea of a white or blue/navy button-down, a tank or a basic T-shirt (V-neck or crewneck), a lightweight sweater (crewneck or V-neck, or short-sleeved), etc.
