Feminine blouses for work and play

It’s still hot as ever here, though, hopefully, in a few months, I’ll be able to give my dresses a rest, and put on some pants for once… Haha, I know how that sounds but it’s no news that I live in dresses most of the time. The dilemma with switching to pants usually is about what to wear on top…

I’m not a fan of t-shirts as they’re a little too casual for my taste (though I do wear them once in a great while), so my choice is a blouse or, at the very least, a button-down. Though, even with those, I prefer they come with special details, like eyelets, a tie-neck, or a unique neckline, and why not, even some ruffles. As an example, the blouse I’m wearing in the photo above can be worn off-shoulders or on, making it appropriate for work as well.

When it comes to such details, so that an outfit doesn’t feel overdone, I like to keep the rest (skirt/pants, shoes, etc.) simple by going with classic cuts and styles. Another “rule” of mine is not mixing prints — while they can work together, there is a fine line before everything becomes “too much”. I also steer clear of logo-ed pieces and prints, be it bags, clothes, etc. — just personal preference, as again, some may look “tacky” or overdone, and if worn at the office, appear unprofessional. Of course, that depends on placement, as well as frequency, size, etc. — if you’re unsure, it’s best to avoid them.

With all that said, I’ve linked below a selection of feminine blouses perfect for work and play. They can be transitioned accordingly by adding fun accessories (think fun earrings, bracelets, cocktail rings, etc.) for going out, and for work, wearing them with a blazer or a cardigan.
