Summer must-have accessories
Summer is officially here, though, in Florida, it arrived months ago.
Whether it feels like summer or you’re still enjoying some sort of spring weather (I hear that may be the case in Washington state), one thing is certain — it’s high time to switch to a lighter wardrobe and fresh accessories to help embrace the sunny days ahead.
While you might be excited about dresses, and linen clothing (based on my blog’s search trends), don’t overlook accessories — they are the final touch for any outfit and occasion.
Here are the summer must-have accessories, in my opinion (scroll below to shop my picks or check them out here):
Lightweight Scarves
Scarves aren’t just winter accessories, they can be handy and chic additions to your summer style, as well.
Whether you’re “flying” through Italy’s streets on a Vespa or a convertible (isn’t that the dream), or simply riding on a boat, wearing a summer scarf on your head can keep your hair “tamed” and add those Sophia Loren chic vibes. It may also offer sun protection when worn over your shoulders or those carefree vibes when attached to your bag. Use one to tie your hair into a ponytail or braid it for an extra sophisticated touch. Of course, scarves can also be worn in place of a belt for a playful, vacation-ready look. Sarah Flint even created a reversible scarf belt — how clever is that? You can basically wear any scarf you please with them. *Use code SARAHFLINT-CCMARINA1 for 15% off your 1st purchase of $230 or more. Code REDHOT will give you 25% off sitewide until 07/07/24!
Statement jewelry
Summer is the perfect time to wear bold, statement jewelry. From oversized earrings to colorful bracelets, there are endless options to choose from. I personally prefer earrings over necklaces and wearing a watch over bracelets, but I have been making an effort lately to wear the various pearl necklaces I’ve been obsessively collecting.
To incorporate statement jewelry, look for pieces that complement your personal style, and add a pop of color to your outfits.
Sunglasses
I hardly have to mention them, since sunglasses are summer necessities for our eye’s health, but as I’m sharing several styles below, I felt like including them. Plus, with a myriad of options out there, sunglasses have become style staples that can help you elevate your outfit, and add a certain level of elegance and sophistication, or playfulness, depending on your preference.
My favorite styles are obviously the cat eyes, in retro (love these and have them in 3 colors), or modern styles. Lately, I have been into somewhat colorful styles, as well (i.e. these).
I still prefer to coordinate my sunglasses with my outfits, which is the reason I go for white ones. I avoid black sunglasses since it’s not a color I wear often. Remember to choose styles that suit your face shape and provide high UV protection.
Straw/raffia/wicker bags
I don’t see these going away any time soon as they have strongly upheld their place in fashion favorites years and years in a row. Straw and raffia bags come in all shapes, sizes, and styles, and have a relaxed feel and look about them, and, surprisingly, go with just about everything. Scroll below for a variety of them.
Hats
I fell off the hat wagon for whatever reason (even if my collection of them continued to grow) and I need to get back into the habit of wearing them to protect myself from the harsh Florida sun. I’m not a fan of baseball, visor, or bucket hats, to be honest — I prefer either a fedora or a wide-brim hat. Whatever style you prefer, hats are important accessories to wear in the summer for additional protection from the sun. Shop them below.
Additional summer must-have accessories you should consider are comfy yet stylish sandals (Sarah Flint offers a wide variety of them, and using code SARAHFLINT-CCMARINA1 at checkout would give you 15% off your first purchase), a good water bottle to keep you hydrated at all times, cute hair accessories like a raffia headband, and sunscreen — never forget the sunscreen for both your face and body.
