Thanksgiving table setting ideas

Like everything else, Thanksgiving will look different this year. As this pandemic is only getting worse, we choose to stay home, just the two of us, to keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy. Yet, I want to make this holiday festive enough, starting with setting a nice table.

I have to admit that I’m not great at setting tables, but I sure do like trying to create beautiful ones, especially around the holidays.

I do the cooking all by myself, and so, by the time the food is ready I’m pretty tired, and while I do make sure that the table is set somewhat nicely, I have to admit it’s not always been a priority for me. And I want to change that.

Generally, I don’t like overly traditional, aka the full-on autumn decorations with the burnt-orange, brown, and/or yellow colorways that take the stores by storm once the season approaches. That should come as no surprise given that our home is decorated with blue and white, and I mostly prefer to keep it that way, aka, I don’t change our decor much.

However, once I started looking for ideas at one of my favorite retailers and came across gorgeous items to help with table-setting, I have to say that I fell in love with the light green/sage and pastel fall colors. I wanted to mix them with the natural tones and fibers in these placemats, add a few gold accents and details, to make it look elegant, yet youthful. And yes, I thought of adding a fresh wreath in lieu of plastic decorative items as a centerpiece (or even flowers), filling the space in the middle with candles (if you like this idea, make sure it is safe, and the wreath does not catch fire if you light the candles).

While for the first table setting idea I wanted to add some fall tones, with the second one, I wanted to incorporate this sage-green I mentioned above. I think this color scheme works great for Thanksgiving, but it is also perfect for Christmas. What do you think?

Until next time.

xoxo,

Em
