A #fridayflashback of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
Since the vast majority of us haven’t experienced spring this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, I thought of sharing a happy and colorful flashback to the times when we visited the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch in California.
In case you’ve never heard of this place before, or you aren’t too familiar with it (shared in this post as well), The Flower Fields are made of over 50 acres of stunning ranunculus flowers grown mostly for bulb production (only a small portion of the blooms are sold as cut flowers), and some acres used for growing other flowers (delphiniums, orchids, sweet peas, poinsettias, etc.) and/or as entertainment areas, as there are plenty of activities to enjoy on location. Apart from the ranunculus fields, my other favorite place to visit there is the cymbidium orchids greenhouse, where an orchid-lover like me can marvel at the long rows of these gorgeous blooms.
Over the years these fields became a popular attraction bringing thousands and thousands of people from all over. It can get busy, especially during the weekend, and in the parking lot, so some patience is advised.
These fields are located in Southern California and are open from March 1st to Mother’s Day every year, but I’d say the best time to visit is late March to mid or late April when the fields are almost fully bloomed (of course the weather is always a factor). Yes, the flower fields are closed now, but there’s always next year to plan for a visit - staying optimistic here.
