The woman I wanted to be

As 2018 is coming to an end, everyone is looking back, reminiscing over the things they have accomplished, places they have traveled to and whatever else occurred in their lives.

I, in my true nature, don't want to look back; I don't want to reminisce nor analyze my year. I know exactly how it went, how and where I was and the reasons why.

2018 has been challenging. It wasn't a bad year, it was a busy year, with big accomplishments, but also a lot of eye-opening information and situations that have stripped us of our inner-peace or the comfort zone we have been living in over the last few years. 2018 has paved the way to our future, of that I am sure.

While you might be thinking of resolutions for 2019, I only have ONE thing on my list for the upcoming year - to find myself.

That one thing, of course, has many intrications and requires more work than many other resolutions or goals you might be setting for yourself. Let me explain.

I had this woman in mind years ago - a happy woman: content of where she is, but striving to achieve more and better, a woman confident of herself, and her abilities, a woman with a purpose, an independent woman, a woman full of love and joy.

I had a clear vision of that woman and a clear (or working towards one) path of how to get there. Then that woman got lost; lost somewhere in starting over, lost in trying to stand up against those who wanted to bring her down, lost in the endless paperwork she had to deal with, lost in the battles fought against rude, inconsiderate neighbors, lost in speaking up for herself and for others, lost in standing up for her rights, lost in traffic, lost in a job she hated, lost in the life and rules society wants her to live by. And in 2018, she has had enough. In 2019 she wants to find herself and finally become the woman she wanted to be.

Now don't think that this woman's life is bad. Somewhere in the midst of this, she found her soulmate, and she is loved and loves back. But back to the topic at hand...

I've always believed that, in order to get perspective and see any situation more clearly, one would have to step out of it. In order to find oneself, one has to let go of the known. And that's exactly what I'm doing this year - I'm stepping out of my life, as I know it, holding on to my hubby only. Together we will be getting a new perspective.

And if the unknown used to scare me in the past, it's only bringing me excitement these days, proving that I am one step closer to the woman I wanted to be... 2019, I am ready for you!

Happy New Year to you my friends!

I wholeheartedly wish you to find yourself or the things you need in the new year. Go after what you want, do the things that bring you joy, make time for yourself, carefully choose your battles, choose your sanity, choose your loved ones, carefully choose your friends - JUST DO IT!
