October at a glance
Happy November! I hope you had a nice Halloween!
October was an overwhelming and busy month for us, but a fairly good one, at that. Among some of the good things that happened, and perhaps, the most important was our moving (the reason why I’ve been missing on here). We finally moved out of the extremely toxic place we’d lived in, and we are relieved not to be there anymore. On to a new and fresh chapter, even if it is not a defined one right now.
What I/we did
Apart from the obvious, we also voted early via mail ballots. I spent several hours this past month, researching candidates I wasn’t familiar with (the judges are always the hardest to research), and, ultimately, voted for democracy.
We had a cold front, and thank God for that because I was able to wear and shoot these beautiful and comfy UIN Footwear travel/walking shoes which, I think, work best with pants (or shorts if you’re a fan of them). I run hot which is why you won’t find me wearing anything but dresses during warm days/seasons. Anyway, the cooler weather gave us the opportunity to explore a few more parks in the area, as well as revisit our favorites. Definitely looking forward to doing this every weekend now that it’s nice outside!
Another thing I did this month was adding my Holidays page, and am working on updating/adding more holiday content like things to do, gift guides, what to wear, etc., because, yes, it’s time! I’m posting more holiday dresses on my ShopLTK, in case you’re looking for festive options to wear this season. Note: take advantage of my discount codes in this post as a gift for yourself or a loved one who appreciates fun shoes (and check the other discount code here).
What we watched
Clickbait. Wow for this show. The plot twists kept us on our toes and engaged the entire time. Recommend!
The Sinner. Similar to True Detective, we really liked this show, with season 4 being the best of them all, in our opinion.
The Watcher. I remember reading the story it’s [loosely] based on a few years ago, and feeling quite creeped out about it. Since everyone was talking about this show, we decided to watch it after we got done with The Sinner. I had no idea The Watcher was about that particular “mystery”, but shortly after beginning to watch it, I was reminded of it… The show is good, and we enjoyed it, I just can’t decide if I’m disappointed the producers swayed so much from reality, or that I preferred the “enriched” storyline…
Mr. Robot. We just started watching this show, and well, we’re enthralled, but also pretty confused at times. Nevertheless, it’s a good one, and Rami Malek is just brilliant (and one of my favorite actors).
Hocus Pocus. I have not seen the movie before, though I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it mentioned all over Social Media. For that reason, it’s been on my list to watch and we finally got to it last night. Now we have to see what Hocus Pocus 2 is about…
What I read
At the end of a busy day, I looked forward to curling on the couch with a book. Even if I didn’t manage to read every night, I finished two books:
Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, a non-fiction, meditative read, where the author draws inspiration and compares the sea shells found on the beach during a solo vacation with the life of the modern woman, and everything we [have to] juggle.
The Housekeeper by Natalie Barelli. A must-read, this book starts slow but builds up and sucks you in.
Curious reads
In the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to share a few on-theme reads that I’ve enjoyed this month — I hope you enjoy them too!
