A gorgeous linen-blend dress, plus more
One blissful day, I got served an ad on Instagram for this dress, and I instantly clicked on it. ASOS was one of my most-shopped retailers at some point, but somehow, I lost track of them in recent years. Though, what’s Instagram for, right?
Well, I clicked on the ad but hesitated to purchase the dress because of the color. None of the colors it came in at the time were my favorite… Black, while I allowed it into my closet this year, felt like it was taking over at a too-fast pace… Rust is not a color I’d personally choose and the same goes for khaki.
I am, however, crazy about the style, which is why I clicked on the ad in the first place… I fell in love with it the moment I saw this Staud dress, which, frankly, is more than I’d like to spend on a dress right now… So I gave up on both of these dresses. And again, what’s Instagram for if not to remind us of the items we didn’t purchase?
I got an ad again, this time for this white with a contrasting black colorway, and I was hooked again. During checkout, I noticed the dress was see-through, big time (these dresses are unlined). So I backed out… again (it sold out anyway).
But Instagram was intent on me buying it, so after a while, it showed it to me again, this time, in a colorway I had no hesitation for… this blue tropical print… Except, the dress was sold out in my size. Imagine the pain (yes, I’m being dramatic!)… I set a back-in-stock notification and went on with my life.
For my own sanity, I do not have email or other notifications set up on my phone. This means that yes, I miss out sometimes… But it worked out in the end, obviously, as I checked my email at the time the back-in-stock alert came through, and the rest is history.

As far as sizing for this dress, I paid attention to the size the model was wearing, and how it looked on them. Because the model was wearing a size 4, and the dress looked loose on them, I got it in size 4 as well (my “usual”). And I will recommend the same for you — even if you are in between sizes, go with the lower one as this dress has some stretch. However, from reviews, it seems some colors may be a bit different.
That aside, this dress is just about perfect for me; I’m taking out a tiny point due to the lack of pockets.
However, I will definitely keep my eye on it for other colors, and buy it again if there’s another one I like. I am still somewhat inclined to get it in the white and black version if it’s ever restocked — it’s not like I don’t know how to fix that!
So here’s the not-so-short story about how I got my hands on this dress. I have a talent, don’t I? Ha!
If you like wearing short dresses, I adore this blue stripe one in the same style. I don’t feel comfortable in short dresses, so I’m hoping they bring it in a longer version — I’d buy it in an instant!
Also, here is the dress I’m wearing in curvy (aka, plus size).
If you like it, I suggest setting up restock alerts as it does come back but also sells out quickly.
For the price, this is a great dress — it’s comfortable and lightweight, making it perfect for summer.
