Well, hello friends! I’m glad to be back into the swing of things after some very difficult and stressful time away. My absence here was somewhat unplanned but needed as life got out of control all at once. Hopefully, it’s all behind now, and I can finally focus on things that aren’t absolutely draining.

One of the things I’m excited to resume is making this short joy list, aka highlighting 5 things that bring me joy every week. In case you’re not familiar with this series, these are often the smallest of things that overall, have a big impact on everyday life.

So, without further ado, here’s this week’s list:

  • getting back into a routine or just normal life, haha. As much as they become boring, I like having a routine to stick to, and a set to-do list (to some extent).

  • the beautiful views, incredible sunrises, and moon rise we get to experience right from our windows. Witnessing these sure puts things into perspective while also giving a moment to pause, take it in, and wonder at the beauty of our world.

  • the beautiful and abundant light in our place. I’ve said it before but dark places depress me so having natural light is important to me. Luck had it that our place gets a ton of light (which was a nice surprise) and that is certainly bringing a lot of joy.

  • seeing the basil seeds I planted a few days ago already sprouting and growing. Fingers crossed they actually survive and produce crops.

  • shall I say, not living out of a suitcase anymore? It’s no secret that we had absolute nightmare neighbors where we were living before. They were so bad that we decided on a whim to move out, which led to a whole other situation. After what felt like an impossible task (the rental market in Tampa, Florida is absolutely bonkers for a multitude of reasons), we think we found a hidden gem that sure brings us a lot of joy right now.

What’s bringing YOU joy this week?

xo,

Em
