Check the entire “5 things that bring me joy this week” weekly series here, a collection of seemingly insignificant things that serve as a reminder to appreciate the little things — those small joys that make a difference in our day-to-day.

I won’t lie, I froze a bit these past few days when temperatures dipped, and I more than looked forward to our cozy bed in the evenings just to warm up.

I got to actually wear a sweater, jeans, and this magnolias silk scarf this past weekend. In a strange way, I enjoyed it, especially as summer is pushing her way in again this week. We will be enjoying this last mild day before the heat takes over for the rest of the week by taking a long walk this evening in our neighborhood — definitely looking forward to that!

Here is the list of the little things that have been bringing me joy this week:

  • my new small balcony garden. A trip to Lowe’s ended with me bringing home 3 tomato and one sweet heat pepper plants that I planted in large containers in hopes of growing a few of my own veggies. I “cheated” and chose more mature plants that already had plenty of buds/blooms and even fruit, so fingers crossed. I’m so excited!

  • this tiny but mighty orchid that just keeps blooming! While my other “regular-sized” orchids have been mostly dormant, this little one has been hard at work and blooming every chance it gets (aka, soon after her last flowers fall). It brings me so much joy!

  • the fact that I’ve managed to read several books this month. I’ll share the list in my month-at-a-glance blog post but they’re good. Reading just brings me joy, no news there.

  • this short and sweet Instagram reel I put together. I will never forget our time in Scotland and can’t wait to go back… I guess I’m saying that memories bring me joy — aren’t we so lucky to have them?!

  • this song I’ve been playing over and over — it has a happy rhythm, don’t you think?

What’s bringing YOU joy this week?

xo,

Em
