It’s Thanksgiving eve, and I’m about to start the meal prep for tomorrow. I’m excited to enjoy a peaceful holiday with our little family, and maybe some friends later. But until then, it’s prep time!

Last year, I thawed the turkey the day before and got it ready (slathered it in spices, etc., and coconut oil — I don’t use butter) — it was so much easier and the turkey was tastier that way as it had time to “marinate” before going into the oven. I also washed and cut the vegetables (green beans and brussels sprouts always) so that all I had to do was put them in the oven the day of. I’m doing the same this year, and I’m currently debating if I’m making a pie — blueberry or apple are the options, as we already have a pumpkin cheesecake we bought from Trader Joe’s to enjoy as dessert.

Before I get to that, I wanted to share the 5 things that bring me joy this week, so here they go:

  • beautiful weather. It’s been raining on and off here the past week, and temperatures have been on the cooler side, but it’s been nice. As I’m writing this, widows are open to let fresh air in and Enzo is going crazy for the birds that seem to be tantalizing him with getting almost in his face…

  • having so much nature around us… Our rental feels like a tree house as it is surrounded by lots of trees and bushes that bring a variety of birds, and other creatures. I love listening to them, and that includes the crickets singing their tunes — nature sounds bring joy.

  • these Sarah Flint Natalie sling shoes. I know I talk about Sarah Flint a lot, but I seriously love their shoes. These particular ones are TTS, though if you have wide feet, size up. If you want them, make sure you use the code SF-EM-15 to save 15% on your first purchase.

*Note that Sarah Flint is running the “now it’s a party” sale where if you buy 2 shoes, you get $100 off; if you buy 3 shoes, you get $225 off; if you buy 4 or more, you get $400 by using code HOLIDAY-FLINTFAMILY — everyone’s eligible and there are no limits as to how many times you can use the code.

  • the thought of enjoying Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow (which reminds me — I have to begin thawing the turkey). I think that what I like most about the holidays, is the leftover food — saves me from cooking for several days… And I’m so excited to dive into the stuffing — it’s my favorite part!

  • this vintage purse I’m eyeing — it just brings joy, and I have to decide on a color. But really, the list of things I’m eyeing this sales season is… long. How’s yours looking?

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! What’s bringing YOU joy this week?

Em
