A classic spring dress
It’s always the same story… I see a dress, I immediately like it, and I snag it… and then, it shows up on here.
While it’s not new to me by any chance, I have to admit that I’ve been quite smitten with Banana Republic and Banana Republic Factory recently.
Their styles are just the classic with a modern touch everyone needs. I would especially recommend them if you’re looking for workwear, and even special occasions, as there are plenty of options. And, of course, there are many in-between options.
This dress I got from Banana Republic Factory is a pure classic, reminding me of the 40s-50s feminine styles. And it’s such a good one! I love its neckline and silhouette — these were the details that caught my eye before anything else. Then, it was the linen blend, and so on.
As usual, I had some trouble choosing a color… The flax/greige felt too plain for me, so I decided to get it in “lei flower” aka a salmon pink/coral color, however, at the last minute, I switched to the cross blue herringbone. What else is new… #bluelover.

Once I received it, I was surprised at the heavy fabric of this dress. It’s a bit much for Florida summers but is perfect for places where temperatures vary (including California). I kept it though, because it will be great for late fall/winter/early spring here. Plus, the quality is amazing. The only complaint I have about it is the belt that comes undone when wearing (at least in my case), due to not having notches (holes). However, as you see from the photos, I replaced it with a straw belt for a more playful/summery look, so it’s not an issue.
As far as sizing, I do not agree that the dress runs slightly big as it shows on the website — I found it to be TTS. Note that the fabric does not stretch at all, so consider that when purchasing. I think there’s plenty of room in the chest area however, I’m not too endowed there, so take that with a grain of salt. I’d say that if you’re in between sizes, go up.
The dress is fully lined, and you don’t have to worry about it being see-through. Plus, it has two extra snap buttons to secure the chest area. Hence, it’s perfect for work and play.
