End of summer in the South feelings
“I have nothing to wear” - me looking at my chock-full closet, reaching for the dress I’ve been wearing way too much lately… #storyofmylife.
That dress (which I’m wearing in these photos), in all honesty, is a [non-see-through] swimsuit cover-up - yeah, I’ve resorted to wearing cover-ups to beat the heat. Is it helping? Honestly, not a lot.
I can’t help but feel jealous of those of you who are starting to even remotely feel autumn temperatures. After two attempts this past weekend of trying to enjoy some time outside, I can’t help but resent this persistent heat we’re having… truth be told, I’m not looking forward to wearing sweaters and boots, like so many out there. I just want to be outside without my body immediately be covered in sweat, because, yeah, this is the truth about living in Florida most of the year… Well, except for winter - I sure will be glad to be living here when everyone’s freezing and we’re finally enjoying the days I’m craving for. In case I have to elaborate, those days are made of low humidity, no chance of rain, and pleasant warmth.
I despise summers in Florida, and I’d hoped when we made the move here, that this pandemic would end, and we’d leave the sweltering summers and travel somewhere else… And since the pandemic is unrelenting, especially in Florida, we’ve now spent yet another summer at home, and I’m not happy about it.
This time of the year is even more frustrating… everyone’s focus is on the new season, planning fall outfits and activities, yet I’m still looking for the lightest clothes possible, and for ways to beat the heat. If you find yourself in my shoes, may I recommend a cover-up dress? By the same brand dress here and here; similar cover-up dress here and here; I found them to run true-to-size. Also, I can’t recommend enough these sandals I’ve had and worn for a while now.
The bottom line is that summer is still going strong in the South, and most likely, it will for the next few months, and if you’re looking for what to wear around here, check this post.
Hang in there…
Until next time.
xoxo,
Em
