Linen clothes for the "coastal grandmother" effortless style
As we’re heading into the hottest months of the year, we’re looking for solutions to stay somewhat comfortable. Clothing plays a big role in that, and I find myself reaching for specific ones during these times — those made of linen.
I’m a big fan of linen — it’s literally my favorite fabric and I’d have everything in it if it were possible. Of course, linen has its own challenges, one of them being that it wrinkles easily, especially when worn, and can look “frumpy”, and by I mean that it “shrivels” after washing (usually not a lasting thing). I fix the frumpiness by ironing or steaming, however, the wrinkling is an “it is what it is” kind of situation for me — I fully embrace it!
I will admit that many times, linen clothes are see-through to various degrees. However, I covered in this post how to prevent “transparency” in clothing, or, at the very least, minimize it. At the end of the day, the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience these may cause.
This fabric has gained new popularity recently thanks to the coastal grandmother trend, one that I hope will stick around for a long time. Finally something I’m on board with reticence-free.
When referring to coastal grandmother style, think light, flowy looks, always accompanied by a straw hat (I recommend this one and this one).
For example, wear a pair of linen pants with a linen shirt, oversized or regular. Complete the look with a hat and slides. Or, go with a linen dress or shirtdress and flat espadrilles or wedges (I also recommend these ones I just got in both colors and these ones).
Ultimately, this style trend is all about effortless comfort. Find below a selection of clothes in linen or linen blends to help you achieve that relaxed coastal grandmother look — many of these items are currently on sale!
Happy Friday!
