September at a glance
Looking back, September was a busy month for us… Busier than we anticipated as we also decided to add a necessary and time-consuming task to our list that we were initially hoping to do at a later time. It threw our entire schedule off, but now that it’s over and done, I’m happy we got it out of the way, now that we’re also dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Ian. Luckily, we weren’t affected much, however, we still have some cleanup and organizing to do, especially as daily life was basically halted prior to and while it unfolded.
What we did
Hubby and I celebrated 10 years of marriage! What a ride it has been!
We took a short road trip to Washington DC. It wasn’t for fun, but we managed to do a bit of sightseeing before rainstorms stopped us. On our way back, we thought of extending our road trip with stops in Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA but ultimately, due to sheer exhaustion, we called it off. After all, these cities are fairly close to Tampa Bay so we can visit any time we like.
As far as Washington DC, my initial impressions are that it is charming, and we will come back to properly tour it sometime. The only thing that left me disappointed was how dirty the Tidal Basin was… why are we like this, and don’t care about nor respect our surroundings?
What we watched
The Outlaws. This series was brilliant in my opinion, as I really loved it. It started a bit slow and then it got really interesting. Oh, I still have this soundtrack stuck in my head, and it makes me dance every time, haha. Eagerly waiting to see if there will be a season 3.
James May: Our Man in... Covering Japan and Italy, this funny travel documentary was something we really enjoyed.
The White Lotus. Can’t say we liked it or enjoyed it, and we’re not sure we’re going to finish it (we have two episodes of season 1 left). We didn’t find it funny and it just lacked substance… I’m really wondering why people liked it so much.
Tower Heist. A 2011 movie that we found to be entertaining — recommend.
Twins. Another old [silly] movie that we enjoyed. More and more we find ourselves looking to watch old movies, especially comedies… They just don’t make them like they used to…
What I read
It has been a slow month again when it comes to reading, but I was able to start and finish The Woman in the Lake by Nicola Cornick. Overall, I enjoyed it. It’s a historical fiction that encompasses past and present times and the stories revolving around one [dangerous] object.
I also just started A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams. So far, it failed to captivate me but I am still giving it a chance… I’ll update you on this in an upcoming recap post of what I’ve been reading lately.
What I shopped for
I don’t think I’ve shopped for anything this month other than skincare and moving supplies.
For the former, I’ve purchased this RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30, while I’m still using this Multi Correxion Even Tone Daily Moisturizer. I also think I’ve finally found an eye cream that I like, that most importantly, isn’t irritating my eyes. I’ve been using RoC products for a while now, and I’m really liking them so I plan on using this brand long-term.
