Things I bought for our home that I still love a year later
I’ve said it before, but this past year+ has emphasized the need for our homes to be our sanctuaries, spaces we can relax in, and ride the continuous stress that has been thrown at us due to this pandemic and everything else that came with it. And judging by the sold-out stock and backorders in home stores, people have done just that - invested time and money into making their homes better places.
As I have shared before, moving and settling here when we did was a struggle for those reasons, but I have to say that almost a year later, I’m happy with the home purchases I’ve made. Though I had to spend hours scouring and refreshing web pages, I think it was well worth it; our finds have proven to be of quality, and comfortable for our needs, and most importantly, delivered on time - we have all heard those stories of people waiting for months for their furniture to be delivered!
And since I have linked our home purchases here, here, and here, I wanted to highlight in this post the most surprising ones, as well as some new basic finds I’m happy with, after almost a year of [daily] use. Here they go.
Note: The leather book covers from the photo above were bought as souvenirs from Florence, Italy.
Our living room rug. Almost a year later, our living room rug still looks great, and I have no regrets about buying it. Even though it’s more colorful than I initially planned for our interior, now I really enjoy the cheerful print, as it ties perfectly with the overall color scheme in our home.
The rug has a low pile, hence it’s not soft, however, you can always add a rug pad (or this one) to add softness (and, of course, to prevent it from slipping). We actually just cleaned it with this carpet cleaning vacuum (though we don’t have pets), and it resisted the wash just fine.
I’m still obsessed with these mugs (we bought several sets) and use them every day. I keep the coasters on the coffee table, as part of the décor, and, of course, for use whenever needed.
This blue and white ceramic vase.
When it comes to home decor, after my blue and white obsession, my second one is ceramic and clay vases.
This one can be used as a flower vase or decorative pot since water does not seep through, or, as a kitchen utensil holder, and whatever else strikes your fancy.
Taper candle holders are elegant and can be used as part of home decor, and/or, as part of a table setting. While the exact ones we have are sold out, this set of 3 tapers candle holders is similar and just as pretty.
Most of my plants are “housed” in these pots, and I have to say I love the quality, the price, and, of course, the look of them.
These pots are made of concrete, so they’re not necessarily light, and are suitable for indoor as well as outdoor use. They come in sizes of 6 and 8 inches.
Blue and white utensil holders. Just like the ceramic vase above, these crocks have many uses in my home apart from their intended one. From vases for fresh flowers to decorative pots for my orchids, they are elegant and look great in the kitchen, as well as any other room. I found this exact one here, however, I also like this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one.
What are the things you bought for your home that you’re very happy with?
Until next time.
xoxo,
Em
