Paraphrasing Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada… Gingham? For summer? Groundbreaking! Though really, gingham is quintessential for summer, and there’s a reason it pops up everywhere during this season… It’s cute and the perfect pattern for the occasion!
Long are the days when gingham was reserved for the picnic table only… In recent years, it’s taken the fashion world by storm with a myriad of styles and colors. These days you can find this print in dresses, tops, bottoms, bathing suits, pajamas, and even shoes. Basically, what that says about it is that gingham is a versatile pattern that works on and with everything! Call me a fan!
Now, it’s no secret that I love color and I’m not shy about incorporating it into my closet as well as my home decor. Sometimes, however, I’m in the mood for something more “toned down”, though not fully neutral, and for me, gingham fits the bill just right — not too flashy and yet, not boring either.
My first choice when it comes to clothes is always a dress, as you might know. And because I usually go for classic cuts, my pieces work year after year, season after season. An example would be this shirt dress I’m wearing in the photo above that I first wore in 2018, and looks just as on-trend today! Fit-and-flare silhouettes will always be in style, and the best part about them is that they look good on any body type.
