5 things that bring me joy this week

Check the entire “5 things that bring me joy this week” weekly series here, a collection of seemingly insignificant things that remind us to appreciate the little things — those small joys that make a difference in our day-to-day.

It hasn’t been a good week… Between my husband and I getting sick, and the SC rulings, we aren’t in a celebratory mood. A very dark cloud is looming above the USA; if we don’t act now and through the next several months, we’re doomed — life as we know it will be gone.

I’m not trying to scare you or even hone in on what’s ahead — I can only hope you realize it and act accordingly.

This series has been about the small joys, and now more than ever, we can’t lose sight of them and give into despair. Inarguably, that’s exactly what some want. But I will leave this here — we’re not helpless.

With that said, I will move on to this random list of 5 things that bring me joy, which, truthfully reflects what we’ve been up to this week…

  • my little garden thriving. We’ve been getting a lot of rain, so we’ve had to be extra careful about our plants not drowning. Growing things is work, but seeing results brings so much joy!

  • going without coffee. I haven’t had a drop of coffee since Saturday due to my illness, and, shockingly, I don’t miss it. I’m also not feeling sleepy like I usually am without it. Why is that? It brings joy knowing that I could survive without it, haha!

  • taking naps. I am not someone who can take naps, but being sick, I was somewhat forced to. While I can’t wait to fully recover, it’s been nice getting more sleep and disconnecting from everything.

  • chicken noodle soup! As you can probably guess, this has been our meal of choice this week. There’s just something about it that brings comfort and joy, especially when sick. Adding fresh herbs from our own garden only amplified our joy!

  • immunity shots! Way to turn sickness into fun but we’ve had a laugh from the faces we made each time we “enjoyed” one of those immunity shots, aka, some very pungent drinks full of good stuff. It’s the little things! 🤪

What’s bringing YOU joy this week?

xo,

Em
